I'm making this icon and tutorial on Adobe Photoshop CS3.

1. Click File >> New. Create an icon 100 pixels by 100 pixels. You may use the picture above which I got from Blakelively.net.
2. Paste the picture in, and make sure the icon is 100x100 for MSN.

3. Create a raster layer [layer >> new layer] and fill it with the color #ffde00. Set it to Overlay >> Opacity: 41%.

4. Create another raster layer and fill it with the color red[#ff0000]. Set it to Saturation >> Opacity: 30%.

5. Create your final raster layer and fill it with the color blue[#0600ff]. Set it to Overlay >> 17%.

6. Your layer palette should look like this:

7. Finally if you want to upload your final project to photobucket or imageshack, save the icon as .PSD and then click Shift+Ctrl+S and save it as a .jpg, .gif, or .png. When you upload, DO NOT UPLOAD THE .PSD ONE!
